Horizontal band saws are a very popular type of saw, and have advantages over vertical band saws. While a vertical saw is good for more complicated cutting of angles, the part has to be moved manually. With a horizontal saw you can clamp the work piece in place and let the saw cut through your metal unattended. The load tension can be set so that it slowly applies downward pressure, and a limit switch can stop it automatically when it has cut through the material.

Benefits of JMT Horizontal Metal Cutting Band Saws
Our well designed metal cutting band saws are capable of cutting a wide variety of materials in many different shapes. Our band saws are made to be fast and inexpensive compared to other types of cutting machines making them ideal for use in automotive industries, steel plants, manufacturing, construction, craft and other sectors. They work especially well with exotic and hard alloys as well as aluminum.
We start by making our metal band saws with a reinforced, rigid frame to minimize deflection and vibration during the cutting process. Chassis, body and all other parts are stress relieved after casting and welding. The frame and chassis are connected by chrome plated columns. All mounting surfaces are machined using CNC work stations so all surfaces are parallel. This stringent manufacturing process results in a longer lasting and more precision steel cutting band saw machine.
High quality electrical and hydraulic components, such as Rexroth valves, Siemens and Schneider electrical controls, are used on most models of our horizontal band saws. These quality components eliminate unwanted speed differences when cutting through solid materials resulting in better cut quality with less wear-and-tear on the saw.
Each of our metal cutting bandsaws come with one general purpose bi-metal blade. Different sizes and blade profiles can be supplied upon request. Tension on the saw blade can be easily adjusted via a mechanical or a hydraulic tensioning system. Correct tensioning prevents the blade from twisting between the vertical guides. Twisting can cause very thin fractures on the blade that eventually cause breakage. JMT designed and engineered tensioning systems help prevent this, giving you a longer blade life. In addition, a cooling system that uses a special mixture of micronized cutting oil and air is sprayed on the blade to prevent overheating and to increase blade life.
In all of our series of band saws, the pulleys and the direction arms are made using vibration and sound absorbent castings and high-quality bearings. This minimizes sounds caused by vibration.
We make our band saws with carbide metal guides to provide better gap control. Better gap control means less wear on the blade.
