A JMT ironworker can be the “Swiss Army Knife” of your machine shop — with stations for punching, notching, shearing and more, this versatile piece of equipment should be indispensable in your metal fabrication operation.
Along with our dual cylinder machines, we offer the “Rhino” series of single-cylinder pivot-type ironworkers, in 40-ton, the very popular 55-ton, and 90-ton models. We will take a close-up look at the 90-ton Rhino today.
The Rhino 90 has a 12″ throat depth and can punch a 1-1/8″ diameter through 1″ mild steel plate. The punch station is equipped with a quick release “dovetail” clamping system allowing quick changeover from a punch to a small press brake attachment.
The machine includes a 12″ press brake attachment and 4-way die block that can be used at the punching station. An optional 24″ bending attachment can also be purchased.
The shearing station has quick hold down adjustment for different material thicknesses. It can shear 1/2″ through 2″ of round bar, 1/2″ through 1-3/8″ of square bar, and up to 6″ x 6″ x 5/8″ of angle iron. It can also shear mild steel plate 20″ wide at 1/2″ thick and 12″ wide at 1″. The angle shear has a free-floating top blade which slides to the center of the angle iron before cutting, eliminating distortions for a clean, precise cut.
The innovative design of the JMT coper/notcher station makes it one of the most versatile in the industry. Operators can cope, notch and trim materials of varying thicknesses from any angle. It has a capacity of 4″ x 6″ x 3/8″.
The JMT Rhino R-90 ironworker comes standard with high speed hydraulics, which includes a higher horsepower motor (15 HP), allowing for faster cycle times and faster parts production. It comes standard with polyurethane hold downs for less material distortion during punching and cutting. The machine weights approximately 5,800 lbs.
