FABTECH Mexico 2016 was held in Mexico City from May 4-6, and JMT was there as an exhibitor. Over 13,000 visitors attended the event, which was held in conjunction with AWS Weldmex, METALFORM Mexico and COATech.
A regular participant in the stateside FABTECH shows for the last several years, this was JMT‘s debut as an exhibitor at this event, touted to be the leading metal manufacturing event in Mexico. “It was a good first experience,” said JMT CEO Dustin Jorgenson, who was at the show during the setup phase of our booth. Dustin further observed, “For the first time having a booth in the Fabtech Mexico show, I think it was a very good, well received opportunity for us going forward.”
One of more than 575 exhibitors at the trade show, JMT sponsored a small booth this time, spotlighting our band saws and welding solutions (weld positioners and tank turning rolls). Visitors from all over Mexico and South America were in attendance, with many stopping by our booth to look at our machines and literature. “The show was interesting,” said JMT President Jared Peterson, who also manned the booth. “We received around 20 leads on Wednesday and the same Thursday. Friday seemed to be a little slower with only around 12 leads. The show started every day at 1:00 and ended at 8:00,” said Jared. “The busy time every day was from about 4:30 to 7:00.”
Fun Abounds at FABTECH Mexico 2016
“The show was held at the Centro Banamex location in Mexico City,” said Matt Bollinger, JMT‘s Purchasing and Logistics Manager, who manned the booth there in his capacity as our specialist in International Sales. “The main hallway overlooked the back stretch to the largest horse racing track in Mexico,” Matt further commented about the venue. “The ponies were up and running the last afternoon of the show.”
“The event was very lively,” Matt also recalled, “with several booths playing loud music and tossing out giveaways.”
“I noticed over one fourth of the people there were gathering up every giveaway they could get their hands on,” said Jared Peterson. “People were carrying four and five sacks full of stuff.”
Interest in JMT at FABTECH Mexico
“Our location was on an end, which resulted in good foot traffic and a lot of interest in our band saw line,” said Matt Bollinger.
Jared Peterson agreed with his assessment. “The majority of the interest in our booth was on the small band saw we had.” said Jared. “We did sell the WV260SH saw at the show and had tons of people saying they were wiring the money for the small saw.”
JMT‘s reputation apparently preceded us there. According to Matt, “Most of the attendees that stopped commented on seeing us online or at another show.”
Matt further observed, “Although smaller than the FABTECH show in the United States, interest in JMT was very high and I expect positive things from brand recognition, especially future sales.”
FABTECH Mexico 2017 will be held May 2-4 — look for JMT there (and at the U.S. show this November in Las Vegas).
